Spring Coffee & Tea Drinks Popping Up Around the DMV

Where to Stay Caffeinated in the DMV this Spring

🌼🌷🌹🌸With a Seasonal Twist 🌼🌷🌹🌸

As the journey to Spring chugs along and April showers seem to have turned into March Showers - the need to stay full of caffeine becomes more dire than ever.

DMV Cafe Culture is an interesting one, and I think has been growing wonderfully in the last couple of years. More and more specialty shops are coming up, more innovative coffee menus, and more people truly in love with their craft can be found.

Seasonality in menus is one thing I personally am a huge fan of. It's always good to have a cafe that does the basics, and does them well, but it's fun to get a cute seasonal latte that I know I only have a few weeks/months to enjoy.

Here are some of my favorite Spring Coffee Menus/Drinks popping up around the DMV:

1. Neighbors Coffee in Rockville, MD

Address: 1101 Nelson St, Rockville, MD 20850

Neighbors Coffee in Rockville, MD has quickly become one of my favorites (looking @ you large Iced Americano that automatically comes as a quad). The staff is beyond kind, the shopping center is absolutely amazing (Neighbors Coffee's neighbors include Z&Z and Carmen's Italian Ice), and they come out with a new menu every season. Take a look at their new Spring Menu below (please note - I took this picture on Day 1 of their Spring menu rollout and so the Early Blossom Latte is available now so don't fret). Hard to go wrong tbh, but I'm a big fan of the Sumo Spritz & the Mango Sticky Rice Soda.

2. Childhood Cafe DC

Address: Childhood cafe, 1926 17th St NW, Washington, DC 20009

Tucked away right off U-Street you'll find Childhood Cafe owned by none other than Washington Wizards player Kyle Kuzma and Chef Joe Perez (Private chef for Kuzma). They've got indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for absorbing any nice weather we've got. I went the other day, sipped my carrot cake latte and knocked out one of the books on my TBR. Great for people watching, catching up with a friend, or just spending a little alone time - and doesn't hurt that they've got a fun new spring menu.

3. The Royal DC

Address: 501 Florida Ave NW, Washington, DC 20001

The Royal DC finally brought back their Cherry Blossom Cold Brew. They call it an ode to springtime in DC and use Counter Culture Coffee's Colombian single-origin cold brew that has notes of cherry with a cherry blossom cold foam. I love a cold brew, and love a little foam - and it's visually gorgeous. The Royal DC had a wonderful fall menu, and hopefully the return of the Cherry Blossom Cold Brew is just the beginning of a roll out of more spring inspired drinks.

4. Cafe Georgetown

Address: 3141 N St NW, Washington, DC 20007

Georgetown, Washington D.C is beautiful place to spend any time of year - but definitely in the Spring. Sitting by the waterfront watching the boats float by, people running, airplanes zooming into DCA. It's the perfect DC scene, and Georgetown Cafe is a lovely little spot to grab a drink (and bite too!). Georgetown Cafe is pretty well known for their printed latte art, absolutely elevating any drink into an insta-perfect shot. They've currently got some beautiful lattes with floral designs on top perfect for spring.

Iced Strawberry Matcha

Iced Day Dream Latte - made with butterfly pea flower (giving it that dreamy blue color)

 5. Good Company Doughnuts & Cafe

Address: Multiple locations including Ballston, National Landing, SW DC, and Penn Quarter.

Doughnuts .... donuts? I'm sure I could look into that difference, but I don't have time for that because I need to all the🍩I can. Good Company Doughnuts & Cafe brings out seasonal flavors in their bakes all the time, and it's well worth the visit just for the doughnuts - but now they've got a beautiful seasonal drink to sip while you eat your way through their menu. The cherry cold foam was nice, a little bitter - but that works great with the oncoming sugar rush from ordering and eating every donut on the menu.

I'm sure that more seasonal drinks will be popping up at cafes around the DMV - and as they do I'll make more lists to highlight some of my favorites that I've tried! If you've got any Spring coffee or tea recommendations for me, please send them my way!!
